The small archipelago of Malta is situated in the centre of the Mediterranean. Its architectural history is the longest in the world:
More than 5000 years ago, gigantic megalithic structures were erected here; one of these temples is said to be the oldest free-standing building in the world.
But Malta has even more to offer besides these unique temples: The island presents its visitors nearly all kinds of buildings, starting from secluded cave churches, small chapels in picturesque landscapes and medieval palaces surrounded by fortifications to its richly decorated Baroque churches.
