Steffian Bradley Architects’ design of the new Oxford Churchill Hospital adds 35,000m2 to the existing care facilities provided by the Oxford Radcliffe NHS Trust, comprising primarily of a specialist cancer treatment centre, surgery, diagnostic and private patient units. The building creates a new entrance and a modern identity for the hospital.

SBA focused on designing a staff, visitor and patient friendly environment with three internal courtyards, a number of terraced roof gardens, skylights and high levels of glazing to enhance day-lighting. The design brings people closer to nature which is reflected in the interior design and art strategy creating a calming influence throughout. Conditions have also been improved from the existing facilities in relation to the provision of parking, light and airy waiting rooms and open plan office spaces.
