Heatherwick Studio is transforming an artificial island in the Han River into a vibrant public park called Soundscape to help combat urban loneliness by fostering connections through nature, culture, and community. The design draws inspiration from Seoul's mountains and soundwave forms, creating dramatic multi-level spaces with biodiverse planting and native species. This winning proposal, chosen through public input and expert review, represents the studio’s first built project in South Korea and is slated to open in 2027.
